The squadron maintained a detachment at Greatham, Durham. Greatham was an alternate airfield for R.A.F. Station West Hartlepool. Spitfire EN821 briefly served with No.243 Squadron until transferred to No.65 'East India' (F) Squadron on the 28th of October 1942.
